چکیده

The past six years have witnessed a number of large simulations of full QCD with two degenerate sea quarks and Wilson like actions. All of them were based on the hybrid Monte Carlo algorithm (HMC) which has been systematically improved over the years. These simulations, however, albeit being milestones for lattice QCD in the pre-Teracomputing age [1], suffer from severe restrictions that prevent them to be truly realistic: we need to go to lighter quark masses and operate with three flavors with masses eventually approaching the physical mass. This situation has been motivating research and development of alternative algorithms of the multibosonic variety (MBA) that promise in principle to overcome some of the restrictions of HMC mentioned. It has been shown that MBA can indeed be geared to reach the efficiency of HMC [2] and encouraging results have been achieved with MBA for the treatment of finite density QCD [3], supersymmetric field theories [4] as well as the case of three dynamical fermion flavors [5]. In this contribution we wish to describe our benchmarking of MBA, performed in the quest to achieve lighter quark masses than previously

China’s Maritime Interest and the Great Game at Seas

Linking China’s interest in the maritime waters arises from the geo-strategic importance of Sea Lines of Communications (SLOCs) vital to the oil supply of the country. China is building strategic relationships and developing a naval capability to establish a forward presence along the SLOCs that connect China to the Middle East and to Africa. The entire stretch includes South China Sea, Indian ...

Simulations with different lattice Dirac operators for valence and sea quarks

We discuss simulations with different lattice Dirac operators for sea and valence quarks. A goal of such a ‘‘mixed’’ action approach is to probe deeper the chiral regime of QCD by enabling simulations with light valence quarks. This is achieved by using chiral fermions as valence quarks while computationally inexpensive fermions are used in the sea sector. Specifically, we consider Wilson sea q...

The spectrum of static-light baryons in twisted mass lattice QCD

We compute the static-light baryon spectrum with N f = 2 flavors of sea quarks using Wilson twisted mass lattice QCD. As light valence quarks we consider quarks, which have the same mass as the sea quarks with corresponding pion masses in the range 340MeV∼mPS ∼525MeV, as well as partially quenched quarks, which have the mass of the physical s quark. We extract masses of states with isospin I = ...

Light and Strange Quark Masses with Dynamical Wilson Fermions

We determine the masses of the light and the strange quarks in the MS-scheme using our high-statistics lattice simulation of QCD with dynamical Wilson fermions. For each of our three sea quarks we have analyzed our data at five different values of the valence quark mass, enabling us to parameterize our fit results in the (m, m) plane. For the light quark mass we find m MS (2GeV) = 2.7(2)MeV, wh...

B-meson decay constant from unquenched lattice QCD.

We present determinations of the -meson decay constant f(B) and f(B)(s)/f(B) using the MILC Collaboration unquenched gauge configurations, which include three flavors of light sea quarks. The mass of one of the sea quarks is kept around the strange quark mass, and we explore a range in masses for the two lighter sea quarks down to m(s)/8. The heavy quark is simulated using nonrelativistic QCD, ...
